Introducing The Design Process From Start To Finish

  1. The key to a good service is offering as much as you can for your budget. We offer a graphic design service which goes far beyond creating something that simply looks nice, we ensure outstanding impactful designs. Here, we’ll walk you through our design process from start to finish to show you exactly what you get from us to make sure you are over the moon with your finished design, both on-screen and in print.

The importance of the first meeting cannot be stressed enough. You’ll be able to come in to our shop and speak directly to one of our talented, professional graphic designers, or chat with them through email or over the phone if you can’t get to us. Rather than working from pre-made templates, you’ll be able to discuss a bespoke design for you – bringing in elements or themes you’ve seen online or from our many samples. This will form the starting point of your design, so as much detail you can give us at this initial stage the better.

Your designer will then go about working their magic. Whether it is starting completely from scratch with a new logo and branding, or amending a previous design from a digital file. We can even scan in elements of previous designs or other printed material you’ve got to keep your branding consistent. Using sophisticated scanners and design software allows us to bring your requirements into the design process in the highest-quality possible – high-resolution files, professional looking branding and above all else, something that does exactly the job you need it to do when printed out or seen online. We also recommend seeing a printed proof wherever possible, as printing uses CMYK colours, which will look slightly different to the RGB colour mode used by computer screens. This means you will never fully know how your design comes out until you see it printed on the right stock for the first time. It’s easy to make small alterations after you’ve looked through the proof, and we won’t go to print until you are completely satisfied with your design.

  1. Now there are added benefits to using a graphic designer that’s combined with a printing company. You’ll hear us use the phrase ‘print-ready file’ – a PDF file that meets all the specifications required to produce high-resolution, perfectly-printed material without the need any alterations or additional setup. As good as some of the design apps are, most files they produce are not able to be printed straight away – no bleed or cut marks, text or images being too close to the edge. All this means that your design may not print exactly the same as it looks on the screen. Our designers are experienced in knowing what is required from the design file to print the right way. Our designers also see your design from a print perspective – just because your artwork looks fine on screen, doesn’t necessarily mean that it will print the same. A fine typeface or light-coloured text may not be readable when printed (particularly when using textured card). Our design team is on-the-lookout for these, and will be able to tell you if something doesn’t look right, so that you can be pleased with the finished product.

What’s vital to us is the service element. You are getting a fast turnaround (not just for the design, but the printing to follow as well) and direct contact to friendly, professional and experienced designers. Not only do you get your proof, but you can also choose from our many available card stocks and laminate types before going ahead. That way you know exactly what you are getting when your design finally printed. It’s the benefit of being a local high street printer for over forty years; you have the history and experience that’s passed through each designer at your disposal.
